About those bloomers...
"Do what you love, not what loves you" was the motivation behind setting up Lottie's Bloomers. Call it a mid life crisis, or maybe
a calling, but it was time for a change and time was running out! After months of searching for what that something was, all of a sudden it dawned on us that our happiest days were when our hands were in the earth.
So we began, in November 2017. Firstly, kicking out the cows and getting some drains in, learning about flower farming, putting in water tanks and irrigation, constructing a tunnel house and shopping! Lots and lots of plant, bulb and seed shopping!
We started planting in May 2018 and picking our first flowers in August. Now where to sell them! We found some really supportive local florists who were keen to buy fresh local flowers and as the season got into full swing we ventured to Auckland once a week to join a group of other small scale flower farmers selling direct to central city florists.
From there it has grown to include selling direct to Wedding and Event Planners, Wholesalers and more recently direct to the customer through our DIY Weddings & Events Packages.
